Springing into ‘damage control’ mode, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday claimed to have resolved the ‘crisis’ that emerged on Tuesday evening as one of its newly elected legislators became upset for being denied a berth in the Delhi Cabinet.
After all the ado, Kejriwal seems to have managed to pacify MlA from laxmi Nagar Vinod Kumar Binny as he expressed his solidarity with the party’s decisions.
A disgruntled Binny, who was seen storming out of Kejriwal’s residence at Kaushambi on Tuesday, maintained his composure and denied any rift with the party convener and its top leaders. “When I went to Kejriwal’s residence, Manish Sisodia and Yogendra Yadav were already there -- having a routine meeting with him. I was not part of that meeting. I had just dropped by to pay a visit to Kejriwal, there was nothing more to that,” said Binny.
Outside Kejriwal’s residence on Tuesday, Binny had told the media that he would address a Press conference on Wednesday to make a “big expose”.
Clearing his stand, Binny said, “I had not come out of his residence angry. Because it became such a big issue and people constantly kept enquiring me about it, I had said that I would collectively answer all the questions at a Press conference. I never said anything about an expose.” Hearing reports about Binny being miffed, senior party leaders Sanjay Singh and Kumar Vishwas visited him to clear the air. “They had come to talk in general,” he added.
Quashing reports of him meeting Samajwadi Party leader Kundan Singh Rana on Tuesday night at the latter’s Noida residence in Sector 71, Binny said, “I had gone to meet my friend Mahesh Verma, who coincidently lives near the SP’s office. I had not gone to meet any SP leader.”
Meanwhile, Kejriwal shrugged off the controversy by saying that Binny had not expressed any displeasure and it was a rumour created by the media. He went on to ask the mediapersons to show him the video clip where Binny had threatened an expose about the AAP.
