Expelled AAP MlA Vinod Kumar Binny’s dharna against Arvind Kejriwal Government lasted for just four hours but he threatened to launch a major stir if his demands, including passage of Jan lokpal Bill, are not met in 10 days. A day after he was thrown out of Aam Aadmi Party, the rebel MlA said he will continue to support the Government on ‘public-related’ issues and was withdrawing his stir for now as lt-Governor Najeeb Jung and Anna Hazare had suggested that ‘some days’ should be given to the AAP Government to fulfil promises made by it during the Delhi Assembly elections.
“I give AAP and (Arvind) Kejriwal 10 more days to fulfil promises. I will come back with a bigger agitation if that is not done,” he warned, wrapping up his agitation in just three-and-a half hours on Monday claiming that the anti-graft crusader, Anna Hazare had advised him that sitting on hunger strike for four days won’t work, and that Hazare had asked him to protest against AAP by spreading awareness.
Mimicking the classic Kejriwal style, which soon lost its sheen, Binny visited Rajghat in the morning before starting his agitation. He then reached Jantar Mantar around noon. He had also met the lG in the morning to take up issues which have not been addressed by the Kejriwal Government and demanded action against Bharti. Though he had sought permission for around 500 people to protest with him, he was joined merely over 100 people. He accused the Delhi Government of cheating the people of Delhi by not fulfilling in letter and spirit the promises it made during its election campaign. His demands also included the resignation of law Minister Somnath Bharti over his controversial midnight raid, which targeted a group of African women in south Delhi.
“The party which was formed to fight corruption and had called Sheila Dikshit and other leaders corrupt has not even initiated a probe against them. Delhi has broken its record in regard to cases of violence against women, and still women commando force promised by AAP has not been formed. They are playing with the lives of sisters and daughters,” he hit out at AAP.
