In a major security breach, two bike-borne snatchers, including a girl, allegedly snatched a gold chain from a crew member of renowned director Shyam Benegal’s team outside Gate No. 8 of Parliament House. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the crew members were shooting a documentary film. At the time of the incident, a PCR van was also stationed in the vicinity, but policemen failed to respond in time.
Police said that the incident took place at 7 pm on Saturday when the crew members of Shyam Benegal were shooting a documentary named Constitution. “After the shooting hours, local in-charge of the crew lokesh and assistant director of the production unit, Shyam Rawat, were talking outside the gate,” the officer added.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two bike-borne criminals wearing helmets whizzed past only to return and snatch lokesh’s gold chain. “By the time, lokesh could realise what actually happened, the accused had fled. He noticed a part of the chain dangling from the collar of his shirt and the rest of the chain missing. They screamed for help, but before the stationed PCR could react, the bikers had already fled,” said a source. A case has been registered at the Parliament Police Station and investigators are scanning CCTV footage.
