A 25-year-old biker died when a speeding truck rear-ended him on Yamuna Expressway on Tuesday. Police said the incident happened around 8 am near Galgotia University on the e-way’s service lane. Ranveer, a resident of Khareli village of Robupura, was headed to the main carriageway when a truck rammed into his bike.

The impact of the rear-end collision threw Ranveer 30 m from his bike. A rescue team rushed him to hospital where he succumbed to his multiple fractures. As word got around, locals blocked the highway demanding arrest of the rogue trucker. Senior police officials had to step in to pacify the mob.

“We have registered a case and are investigating the matter. We are also scanning CCTV footage to identify the accused,” said a senior police official. Ranveer was plugged into his earphones when the accident happened. It was a tragedy waiting to happen, police surmise.
