Bidhuri: Kejriwal flouting RTI norms after coming to power

Published on:

Delhi BJP on Wednesday lambasted the Kejriwal Government saying that those who came to power in the national Capital with the help of Right to Information (RTI) are themselves flouting the norms of the Act.

“This Government is behaving like Hitler. When BJP MLAs questions in Delhi Assembly, they are thrown out from the House. The opposition members are not allowed to question the Government functioning,” Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said after reacting to the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Uday Mahurkar letter to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. “The Central Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar has accused Delhi Government of not providing the information and giving misinformation under the RTI Act. The AAP does not answer the questions in Assembly too,” Bidhuri alleged.”

The Government is hiding corruption and irregularities. I requested Lieutenant- Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to take strict action against all officers who have been accused by Mahurkar of hiding information or giving false information,” he requested.

Bidhuri said that the RTI Act-2005 was made to bring transparency in working of the government, curb corruption and monitor functioning of  Governments, but Delhi Government has abandoned all these rules.     SR

It is a very ironic fact that those who came to power in Delhi with the help of RTI, are themselves flouting the norms of RTI the most.

“This situation is not only of the officials, but the Kejriwal government itself is violating the rights of the MLAs in the assembly. It is the duty of the government to give proper and true information to the members in the assembly, but since the Arvind Kejriwal government has come to power, the right of the members to ask questions in the assembly has been taken away,” Bidhuri claimed.

“Out of all the assembly sessions held during the last three and a half years of the present assembly, only seven days have been kept for question hours. The BJP MLAs asking questions are thrown out of the assembly through marshals. The Kejriwal government is running only because of one-sided propaganda and claims and if anyone raises questions on it, then their questions are neither answered nor given information under the RTI Act,” Bidhuri said.

Meanwhile, the BJP MLA from the Rohini Constituency, Vijendra Gupta, tweeted, “We filed two RTIs on 1st September 2022. In the first RTI, the details of expenditure of crores of rupees from the government treasury were sought at the residence of CM Kejriwal. The second RTI exposes the corruption in the construction of rooms in schools. It’s been 41 days, I didn’t get the RTI reply. @LtGovDelhi has also complained about this”.
