Accusing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of "betraying the dreams of Anna Hazare", senior lawyer Shanti Bhushan criticised him for hugging RJD Supremo lalu Prasad.
Also, Bhushan accused Kejriwal of running the party "like a dictator" and turning it into a khap panchayat. Kejriwal had shared a hug with lalu on the dais during the swearing-in ceremony of Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar.
Bhushan also accused party convener Kejriwal of "malafide intention". A day before AAP's National Council meeting in Delhi, Bhushan said the party had sent him a notice informing a change of venue from Constitution Club to a motel in Karnal Road at eleventh hour which indicates malafide intention. "When I asked for the list of all invitees, they did not respond," Bhushan said.
Shanti Bhushan also dropped bombshells terming the meet of AAP's 4th National Council (NC) meeting in Delhi as illegal and unconstitutional, alleging that the party suspended around 40 NC members to curb dissent just before the meet without a valid reason. Sources said the AAP has served suspension emails to its founding members.
Bhushan said he will challenge the AAP's move in the Election Commission and also in court to declare the National Council meeting as null and void.
The National Council is the primary decision-making body of AAP. The decisions taken by the party's top decision-making bodies - the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and the National Executive - are ratified by the National Council, which is a body of founder members.
Shanti and his son Prashant Bhushan were the founder members of the party. Prashant, along with Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha, were sacked from the party after they questioned their leadership. In the controversial last National Council meeting held on March 28 this year, the four leaders were removed from the National Executive.
