Former law minister and AAP MlA Somnath Bharati has questioned the power of lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung regarding appointment of counsels in the Delhi High Court.
Bharti asked the starred question during the Winter Session proceedings. A starred question is one to which a member desires an oral answer in the House and the Minister replies on the floor of the House.
An officer of the Delhi Assembly Secretariat said there is no such rule that prohibits any MlA from raising questions on the lG's authority in the House. During the last session, the House had questioned the lG's authority pertaining to his powers related to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) and transfer and posting of senior city administration officers.
