With the arrest of a 21-year-old sharpshooter of the Rajesh Bharti gang, Delhi Police solved the murder of a 32-year-old man in Dwarka Sector 23 and a road rage incident in which two brothers were fired at in Kanjhawala area and one of them was killed.
Aman Khadkhadi alias Azaad confessed that he was inspired by Bollywood movies based on gangsters. Inspired by the iconic character played by Sanjay Dutt in the movie Khalnayak, the accused left behind a hand written note at the scene of the murder to create a larger-than-life image of his gang.
"The idea was to spread fear among the locals in the area and to gain supremacy over other gangs," said Kumar, a senior police officer.
On May 30, Puneet Yadav was found murdered in the area of Chhawla Police Station. On July 17, Vikas was murdered in full public view in Dwarka Sector 23.
On reaching the spot, the cops found that 13 bullets had been pumped into the victim's body and a handwritten note had been left behind by the murderer.
The note mentioned the names of the gang members and claimed that they were
vigilantes who were proud to
be meting out justice on the spot.
Soon after the Dwarka murder, two brothers were fired at in a road rage incident where four unidentified men in a silver Verna opened fire at them. While one of the brothers died the other was critically injured.
Keeping in view the growing number of murders where the accused left behind hand written notes, the Special Staff of the South-West district police started working on these cases.
On July 20, they were tipped off about the movement of a gangster and sharpshooter Aman Khadkhadi of the Rajesh Bharti gang. They were told that Aman and his associates would come to the village in Najafgarh to commit more murders. Based on this information, a team laid a trap and at around 9:45 pm, Aman was seen coming on a bike carrying a weapon.
“The team managed to overpower him and caught him. At his instance, one stolen Fortuner Car, one stolen Verna car which also had been used in recent murders were recovered," said Kumar.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he along with his gang members killed one Puneet Yadav in May
since his accomplice Devender had a property dispute with Yadav.
The accused also disclosed that he eliminated Vikas as he was involved in a illicit relationship with the wife of one of his close associates.
