Though pandemonium prevailed in North Campus on the first day of admission in Delhi University, the process took off in South Campus without a hitch. Hundreds of students reached the campus to submit their application forms. Adequate police presence too ensured smooth functioning and no traffic holdups.
Students from various parts of India such as Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and North-East thronged Delhi University’s South Campus to submit their application in order to secure their positions to any one of the reputed colleges of Delhi University. Meanwhile, students palpable with excitement of getting into college, were clearly wary of the high
cutoffs. Twenty-year-old Ansh Tanvar, a student from the suburbs of Haryana, who wants to study Mathematics in Delhi University, feared the exacting cutoffs this year. “Although the university has some 54,000 seats for the four-year undergrad programme in various colleges across the Capital, uncertainty about admission is always on your mind. This year, students have scored well in the Class XII examinations; the cutoff too will expectedly soar,” he said.
“While FYUP sounds good to me, I will have to spend four years instead of three. There are long lines to collect the form and then the online forms are long-winded. Students are not comfortable with the online mode as it is new-fangled. It is better to have a feel of the campus and collect forms physically,” said Aadhira Panth, a student.
