In a bid to address public grievances and make the administration more sensitive and public friendly, lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung has directed all the Principal Secretaries, Secretaries of various departments of Delhi Government to be available in their offices from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm everyday except Wednesday for public hearings.
He has also directed them to share the information pertaining to the important issues done by their departments for dissemination to general public through Directorate of Information and Publicity via the designated officers already allocated to their departments for issuance of Press releases.
The l-G has asked Chief Secretary SK Srivastava to issue orders to top officials of the departments and CMDs of corporations and autonomous bodies of the Government with day and time schedule for public hearing. Following the order, officials will also have to submit reports of their major decisions, activities and achievements. A copy will also be required to send to the Director, Information & Publicity once a week in case of general departments and twice a week in case of major departments through designated Officers for sharing information with the general public.
“In case of unavoidable circumstances, the second-in-command should be available. All field level officers should be available for meeting the public from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm every day. No meeting should be scheduled during the abovementioned period. All senior officers will also visit and inspect field offices,” said the circular.
