BBA student robbed of car, Rs 3 lakh in BIC area

Despite tight security in and around the city especially, the Budhha International Circuit (BIC) area, four unidentified men stole a car and looted a bag containing Rs 3 lakh from a BBA student on the final day of Formula One racing event on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

According to police, Mohit Sharma is a resident of Gulawali village in Noida and is a BBA student at a private college in Greater Noida.

Police said that Mohit was driving his new Ford Figo car and had a bag containing Rs 3 lakh. “Sharma claims that he had to give the money to his uncle Charan Singh, who deals in marble and owns a shop in Barola area. On Sunday afternoon when Sharma was at Sector 135 on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, four unidentified men came in a Scorpio car and stopped in front of him. They attacked him and took his car as well as the money,” said a senior police officer. The incident took place on the expressway which is on the route of the Buddh International Circuit.

The Noida Police claims that heavy security was deployed on the 23 km-long expressway, but failed to keep a check. In fact all the sports enthusiasts and VIPs used the same route to reach the Formula 1 venue.

Meanwhile, police is also suspecting that the finance company, from whom Sharma had taken financial aide to buy the car, must have taken the vehicle because Sharma failed to pay the amount. Sharma has lodged a complaint with the Phase-II Police Station.

“On the victim’s complaint, we have registered the FIR. We have also tried to contact the financer of the vehicle to check if they have taken the car but have got no response from them. Even if financers have taken the car they will be booked and arrested. Soon the culprits will be behind bars,” said a senior police officer.
