In order to take stock of the “ground reality” of Clean India campaign in the North district, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay on Friday made a surprise visit of different areas to inspect the cleanliness arrangements.

Upadhyay, who conducted his visit in areas of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC), inspected cleanliness arrangements in Anand Parbat, Karol Bagh, Kamla Nagar, Model Town, Mukherjee Nagar and Azadpur areas.

“During his visit, Upadhyay also administered oath to the people assembled in a programme organised by Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar Federation (SGTNF) and felicitated the workers of the transport sector on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja,” said Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana. He added that the Delhi BJP chief also assured transporters that he would take up their problems, connected with police, with the Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi.

During inspection, the Transport Nagar Federation apprised Upadhyay about its problems. After administering oath of cleanliness to the transporters, truck drivers, representatives connected with the transporter trade, he assured he would soon arrange a meeting of the SGTNF with Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to solve the problems of transporters. The Delhi BJP is already following the policy of zero tolerance against corruption, he said.

After Friday’s surprise inspection, Upadhyay said that there is a need to improve sanitation, but he also said, “I am satisfied that the people and the Corporation staff have taken the slogan of Patakon Ki Dhoom, Uske Baad Broom seriously.” Now Delhi Pradesh BJP and all the three Municipal Corporations shall restart cleanliness drive in the Capital.

Under Patakon Ki Dhoom, Uske Baad Broom, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Education Committee chairman Ashish Sood initiated a cleanliness drive with the local RWAs in various parks of the blocks and councillor of Chandni Chowk.
