Ball in AAP's court: l-G now invites Kejriwal

After the BJP Chief Ministerial candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan has refused to form Government in the Capital, the lieutenant-Governor has now thrown the ball in Aam Aadmi Party’s court. l-G Najeeb Jung has now invited the AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal to meet him on Saturday to discuss if the party wants to go ahead and form their Government.

On being asked whether AAP will consider the option now, Aam Aadmi Party’s winning candidate from Patparganj and party’s spokesperson Manish Sisodia said that senior leaders of the party will have a formal meeting on Friday to discuss the way forward. However, he ruled out the option of joining hands with any party.

“Re-election is the only option left if we want a clean and sincere Government. We are game for re-elections and will stick to our stand of neither seeking support nor giving support to any party as they all are the same,” he said adding that the party will win by majority in the re-polling.

Sisodia also stated that on several occasions “the BJP and Congress have joined hands so it does not matter what these two parties do.”

In a rally to celebrate the victory of Assembly polls on Wednesday, the eminent AAP leaders had maintained that both the BJP and Congress were corrupt parties and cannot change overnight. Hence the option of any alliance with them was out of question.

“Power and money is not important for us. We will sit in Opposition and serve the country instead of extending support to any party,” informed Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, who was supposed to go to Ralegaon Siddhi to support Anna Hazare, has dropped the plan due to his ill health. “Kejriwal is suffering from high fever due to which he is unable to go to Ralegaon Siddhi to support Hazare, who is on indefinite hunger strike for passage of Jan lokpal Bill in Parliament,” Sisodia said.

Instead of Kejriwal, party leaders Kumar Vishwas, Sanjay Singh and Gopal Rai have left for Ralegaon Siddhi, he said. “Kejriwal would visit Ralegaon Siddhi to support Hazare once he is well,” Sisodia said.
