Babus won't kowtow to AAP's 'bully diplomacy'

Not kowtowing to the demand of AAP volunteers to provide total list of vacant flats of type IV and V category cost a senior PWD official dearly after he was shunted out from the department and kept on waiting list since then.

This has enraged the middle rung as well as senior officials of Delhi Government who were against this transfer order. It may be noted that this officer had earlier sent several notices to Manish Sisodia to vacate his official accommodation after the resignation of the AAP Government in February 2014. Top officials apprehended that this would send wrong signal to entire bureaucracy who will lose confidence in working with this Government.

Sources in the Government said that AAP volunteers associated with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) reportedly sought details from the PWD regarding vacant flats available in the category type IV and V. The concerned officer refused to provide details, saying that he cannot provide details to anyone and he should be approached through proper channel or this should come through Secretary to the Chief Minister’s Office.

The approach of PWD officer was frowned upon by the AAP volunteer who reportedly complained to the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia about this officer’s behaviour, sources added.

A day after this incident, this PWD officer was shown the door and has been kept on compulsory wait list. It is pertinent to mention that Sisodia was not happy with this PWD officer, who had issued notices and reminders to vacate the official accommodation during his last tenure.

This is not the first incident where senior officials are finding difficult to handle AAP volunteers. A senior IAS officer reportedly walked out of a presentation in a huff when she was constantly interrupted by AAP volunteers during a high-level meeting.

There are several babus who are upset with AAP high-handedness. In one such case, an AAP volunteer had directed a senior IAS officer to send all information to his personal mail ID.
