Four nephews of Azamgarh MP Ramakant Yadav on their way to the Delhi residence of their uncle from Mathura after Janmashtami celebrations met with a fatal road accident on Yamuna Expressway at 1.45 am early on Thursday.

Arvind, Sambhu, Dileep and Indersen died on the spot. Three others, including the driver — Rajiv, Suresh and Teliral — were critically injured and rushed by the rescue team to Kailash Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to police version, the Yadavs’ SUV was over the speed limit when it hit a moving truck from behind in Tappal area of Aligarh. The impact of the crash had crumpled the SUV and the victims had to be extricated. The passengers in the truck too were injured.

“We have informed the family members of Ramakant Yadav. We have also contacted Aligarh Police to carry further proceeding since it falls under the jurisdiction of Tappal Police Station,” said Brijesh Kumar Singh, SP (Rural), Greater Noida.

In yet another incident, an unidentified youth was killed in a hit-and-run in Noida’s Sector 43 on Thursday morning. The victim succumbed to his injuries before being taken to the hospital. Investigations are on by the police trying to identify the errant driver of the SUV still at large.
