Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu has launched a new housing  scheme under the tag line DDA Awasiya Yojana-2017. The scheme is linked to 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana' under the Credit linked Subsidy Scheme (ClSS). At initial stage, the land owning agency is disposing of more than 12,000 flats of four different categories, including 87 flats for High Income Group (HIG).

The urban body has tied up with ten banks for the sale of application forms and scheme-related transactions. The banks are Axis Bank, Yes Bank, IDBI, Bank of Baroda, Central Bank, SBI, Kotak Mahindra, HDFC, ICICI and Canara Bank. These different category DDA flats are located at Rohini, Dwarka, Jasola, Pitampura, Paschim vihar, Jankapuri, Vasant Kunj, Narela, Siraspur.

DDA also claims that the flats have been constructed following the green building norms to reduce Carbon foot prints. Interestingly, this time, DDA has removed 'lock-in period' for all its flats that implies; people who get flats can sell it whenever they want. The application forms for this scheme will be available from Saturday.

While launching the scheme, Naidu said that providing house to every citizen of India is a dream of NDA Government. "Various such schemes are running in other States of India," the Minister added.

DDA Vice Chairperson Uday Pratap said that DDA has set a target to provide 20,000 flats per year under the above said scheme until 2022.

"Applicant will have to deposit registration money of Rs 1 lakh for Janta and low Income Group (1 Bedroom) and Rs 2 lakh for Middle Income Group and High Income Group (HIG) flats," DDA official said. "The cost of the form has been fixed as Rs 200 and it will be available in the banks," he added further.

While launching the scheme in Nirman Bhavan, DDA official further said that the draw of lots will be conducted in the presence of independent outside observers after three months of the closure of the scheme. The draw of lots will be web streamed.

"DDA will refund registration money of the unsuccessful applicants through the Nodal Branches of the Banks," official said further.

Out of 12,000 flats, 404 fall under the category of MIG and 11,197 for lIG while 384 are Janta flats.

This may be noted that, previously in 2014, DDA had offered 25,040 flats across the categories with prices ranging between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 1.2 crore.

The online response was so massive that the DDA's official website crashed soon after the launch. The one-bedroom flats were offered in Dwarka, Rohini, Narela and Siraspur areas.
