The Ghaziabad residents took out a massive procession on Tuesday to encourage people to observe car-free day on March 10. The residents started procession from SSD College and concluded at the officers club.
The initiative was undertaken by Ghaziabad Federation of RWAs. The patron Major General (Retired) AJB Jaini, Chairman Colonel (Retired) Tejendra Pal Singh, jointly requested citizens to observe the car-free day on March 10.
They said the forest cover is shrinking and the city is expanding with the huge inflow of population from across the country. “The migratory population is flooding the city, which has choked the infrastructure. So we have to increase the forest cover on the one hand and had to adopt measures to reduce the pollution. So to reduce the pollution, we should observe car-free day,” Singh said.
“The district administration is coming forward in the campaign to make the city clean and green. We will make arrangements in the city on Mach 10 to help citizens so they can commute through public transport,” said ADM City, Preety Jaiswal.
