A 30-year-old security guard of an automobile showroom was stabbed to death by a group of unidentified men who barged into the showroom and decamped with a scooty and some cash. To avoid getting caught, the accused even took away the DVR of the CCTV camera installed in the first floor of the showroom, said a senior police officer.
Police said that the guard was stabbed to death while he was trying to avert the robbery. However, police added that they are looking at other angles.
Police said that the incident came to the fore on Tuesday morning at the Begumpur-Kanjhawala main road when a local found that the main gate of the showroom was tampered with and body of the 30-year-old security guard, Shri Prakash, was found lying on the ground floor.
One of the locals informed police after which the body of the security guard was rushed to a nearby hospital.
A senior police officer said, “The victim was stabbed 10-12 times by a sharp edged object. In the preliminary investigation, we suspect personal enmity as only one two wheeler and some cash was found missing from the shop while a dozen others were parked and left untouched.”
The victim was native of Uttar Pradesh. Shri Prakash was working at the present automobile showroom for the past one month. Prior to that, he was working at another showroom.
Police added that they have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC at the Begumpur police station. Police said that they are questioning the owner of the automobile store. Further investigation is underway.
