In the latest update in the recent gangrape case, Noida Police has reportedly detained an auto driver in which the victim allegedly came from Sohna to MG road on Monday night. The auto driver, who was detained on Tuesday night from Gurugram, is said to be familiar with the accused persons.

“We have detained the driver and trying to find out the other accused and it could be possible that he knew their hideouts,” an official said.

Earlier, on Monday night at 8.30 pm, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly forced into a car in Gurugram by three men, who took turns to rape her.

The woman was later thrown out of the car in Greater Noida early on Tuesday morning. Gurugram Police said they received the information about the incident at 4 am.

The woman, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, had come to Sohna for work some 10 to 15 days ago and was living with her family.

The Gurugram Police refused to comment on the case. “The matter is being probed by the Noida Police. We will give all possible help to the Noida police,” a senior official said on condition of anonymity. The Noida Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Meanwhile, Gurugram Police on Wednesday held a meeting with 40 pubs and bars owners on MG road and issued directions to them to ensure the safety of women employees, and prevent drunken brawls in their premises. DCP (east) Deepak Saharan held the meeting in his office in which pub owners were also asked to ensure that women employees are given drop facility during evening hours, a record of patrons is maintained and there is no underage drinking.
