Wife of Brazilian Defence Attache in India, Maria Jussara Juwar Barros de Oliveira, received obscene pictures on her mobile phone on Tuesday from her husband’s driver in south Delhi’s South Campus. She reported it immediately to her husband Colonel Sergio de Barros Oliveira, who lodged a complaint to the police. When police questioned the driver, he said that his daughter was behind the mischief.
“I have received obscene images from the mobile phone of the Defence Attache’s driver Vinod Kumar. I received the message at around 9 pm. After that I showed the message to my husband,” alleged Maria in her complaint to the Police.
Maria, who is also a diplomat, was with her husband in their Anand Niketan residence when she received the obscene images from the driver’s mobile phone.
After the matter was reported to police, two senior police officials visited the Brazilian Defence Attache’s residence and enquired further about the matter. Thereafter, an inspector rank police official was ordered to probe the case.
The driver, Vinod Kumar, was summoned for questioning but he kept on denying his involvement in sending the images and said that it was his daughter who was playing with his phone and sent the pictures to the complainant’s mobile.
Based on preliminary enquiry and on the statement of the diplomat a first information report was registered under section 67 of the Information Technology Act at the South Campus police
station.
Police took three copies of the screenshot of the images, a copy of the diplomatic identity card of the complainant and have also taken the mobile of the accused Vinod Kumar for further investigation. The driver has not been arrested yet as the investigation is still going on, said a police officer of New Delhi district.
