On the first day of Delhi Assembly’s Special Session, leader of Opposition (loP) Vijender Gupta demanded that Delhi Government must attach the bank accounts of defaulting private schools and refund the excess fees to parents.
Incidentally, few days before, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government on the order of Delhi High Court has directed private schools to roll back hike in fees. However, the BJP leader alleged the AAP Government has failed in this regard.
The loP, along with Jagdish Pradhan, also protested in the Assembly against hike in power tariff. “Fixed charges for electricity connections for agriculture purpose have been exorbitantly increased since April 1,” Gupta said.
The leader of Opposition said, “Prior to increase in tariff on fixed charges, the rates were rupees 20 per kilo Watt (KW). However, the fixed charges were increase to Rs 125 per KW. “The surcharge also got increased accordingly. It led to massive increase in electricity bills of farmers.
They need electric supply for agriculture workers for 4 to 5 months in a year. But they have to pay price for the entire year. In a number of bills, on the consumption of zero to one unit the bills have come to Rs 1,400 where the meter is sanction for nine to ten KW,” he added.
