Assembly resolution seeks CBI probe into Rs 2,500 cr misappropriation

The Delhi Assembly on Friday passed a resolution, demanding a CBI enquiry into ‘financial mismanagement’ and an alleged Rs 2,500 crore scam in BJP-ruled municipal corporations.

Addressing the assembly session, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that BJP's Rs 2500 crores scam in MCD is a bigger scam than Congress's Commonwealth scam.

"This is a very painful event for the people of Delhi, the Delhi Assembly and the entire state because we have gathered here today to discuss the biggest scam in the history of Delhi. A 7500-bedded hospital or 12500 Mohalla clinics could have been created using the entire public exchequer lost of Rs 2500 crore.

“The Congress party did many scams in its tenure, one of the most famous scams being the Commonwealth scam. But the BJP-led MCD has left Congress behind, and the people are saying that the Rs 2500 crore scam of the BJP is even bigger than the Commonwealth scam of the Congress. Imagine what they would have done, had they formed a government in Delhi. The scam of Rs 2500 crores is just one MCD of this year, the three MCDs must have done unaccounted scams in the 15 years of their rule," he said.

"Everyone knows that the BJP ruled MCDs takes money from the people of Delhi to build a residential property in Delhi. Only RSS has the share of discount per lintel to build a property. And there is a yearly scam of Rs 5000-10000 crores in the lintel in buildings alone, which they can earn if they stop this corruption,” he added.

Terming the 15-years of the BJP rule in Municipal Corporation as black era, he said “I hope that the people of Delhi will collectively end this black era. The people of Delhi have two models in front of them; one is BJP's model in MCD and AAP's model in Delhi government. During the assembly elections this year in February, people had to choose between two models, and they chose the AAP model and gave us 62 seats as against 8 seats to BJP. I hope that they will entirely reject the BJP model in the coming days," he added.

“It is unfortunate that all the three MCDs are locked as mayors are out sitting on the protests and Commissioners have not been appointed. I hope that the people of Delhi will keep all these in mind next year during the municipal elections. I support the proposal tabled by Saurabh Bhardwaj in the Delhi Assembly," he added.

The chief minister further said that the Delhi government is saving every single penny in all its projects. “It has recently constructed a flyover worth Rs 325 cr in Rs 200 cr and is providing facilities to the people of Delhi with the money saved. The court has also said that the Delhi government has paid its dues in full to the MCD, yet the BJP is seeking Rs. 13000 crores from the Delhi government to again loot the money and do corruption,” he added.
