A 46-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), of Faridabad Police, was shot dead at his residence in  Nathurpur Village in Phase-3 early on Tuesday. Police investigators believe it to be a case of property dispute. His  son, Mohit Yadav (21), is suspected to be involved in the murder as he is absconding since the killing.

Police have registered a case against an unknown person at DlF Phase-2 Police Station. Police said that the prime suspect Mohit, was  involved in another murder case as well.

The victim has been identified as ASI Naresh Yadav. He was killed at around 3 am on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Yadav was posted at Pali police post situated on the Gurugram-Faridabad Road and was on leave.

The Officer’s wife Sunita Yadav spotted Yadav’s body around 5 am and informed the police control room (PCR).

A team of police officers and forensic experts reached the spot soon. They found Naresh’s body in a pool of blood on the bed with one bullet wound on his head.

Preliminary probe suggests that Yadav was murdered by his son.

“Mohit was not doing anything worthwhile in his life and had differences with father. That could have been the motive behind the murder,” said a police officer involved in the probe.

“A case has been registered against an unknown person under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at DlF Phase-2 Police Station. The family members didn’t name anybody in the FIR. Hunt is on to nab the absconding accused,” Manoj Kumar, the Investigation Officer, said.
