A reputed jeweller from Agra was divested of his valuables estimated over `70 lakh in cash, silver, gold and diamonds by three armed assailants on a bike in Ghaziabad’s loni. The incident occurred on Thursday evening on Alipur Pusta Road leading to Tronica City under loni Police Station.

Vijay Kumar Gupta left Agra for Delhi in the early hours of Thursday. From Delhi, he was to head to Meerut via Baghpat. To avoid traffic rush in loni and reach on time, he took the shortest alternative to Pusta Road from Alipur bypass leading to Baghpat alongside river Yamuna.

He was waylaid by three armed attackers on a bike between Badarpur and Pachahra villages. The robbers decamped with his car and `70 lakh worth assets. The lapidary’s cell phone too was disabled. “We are in the process of apprehending the perpetrators,” said Inspector Gorak Nath Yadav of loni Police Station.
