The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Thursday organised an interactive workshop on reforms related to construction permits.

As many as 60 architects, senior officers of ‘Delhi Fire Service’, ‘Metro Rail Corporation’, ‘Airports Authority of India’, ‘National Monuments Authority’, ‘Delhi Pollution Control Committee’ and Delhi Jal Board attended the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, DS Mishra, Secretary to Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, exhorted the architects present to become partner in improving the system so that the ranking of the country in ease of doing business could be substantially improved.

“This will facilitate the public in getting their plan sanctioned smoothly and

without any visit to the offices and personal interface with the officers.

Since the concept of ease of doing business is being promoted by the Prime Minister, the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry is keen to make it more pointed, result oriented and flawless,” he said.

Mishra also said the similar interactive workshops will be organised on regular basis to create awareness.

Addressing the gathering, SDMC Commissioner Dr Puneet Kumar said that the online system to sanction construction permit has come a long way with substantial reduction in the number of procedures, number of days and cost involved.

All the three commissioners Dr Puneet Kumar Goel (SDMC), Dr Ranbir Singh (EDMC) and Madhup Vyas (NMC) were present to answer the queries of the engineers.
