Anti-graft helpline a farce: BJP

Published on:

Calling the newly-launched anti-corruption helpline a farce, the Delhi BJP slammed the launch and termed it as Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi Government’s effort to divert people’s attention from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s autocratic functioning on the ground.

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that it is a matter of shame that those who humiliated the institution of lokpal and lokayukta in their party and Government have again started the drama of anti-corruption helpline.

During his 49 days tenure in 2014 Kejriwal had launched an anti-corruption helpline and if he was serious in his fight against corruption, he could have reactivated the same helpline from day one but he chose to ignore it, Upadhyay added. “Now when was he getting adverse publicity all around his Government he chose to relaunch the same helpline by spending lakhs of money,” he said.

Previously, the Delhi BJP scorned the Delhi Government for its “inefficient admini-stration” even as the latter finished 49 days in Government Upadhyay said that people are being duped by false promises and Arvind Kejriwal is only playing a game of statistics.

Sources in the BJP said that Kejriwal once in power has again forgotten his promise of making power discoms to reduce the tariff to half. Instead within days of power he gave huge amount as subsidy to discoms. During his last tenure at least 70 per cent consumers got some benefit of subsidy but this time hardly 25 per cent of consumers are getting benefitted thanks to his jugglery of 400 units.

Similarly, in the matter of free water too it is just an illusion as the limit of 670 ltrs per day has ensured that the benefit is restricted to only 25 per cent of metered consumers. The 49 days Government has not even initiated a discussion to provide potable water lines for 70 per cent of the population of Delhi which lives in unauthorised colonies, villages and JJ clusters.
