Rape, murder and sexual assault are some of the criminal cases that BSP MlA, Haji Aleem carries on his shoulders. He has been elected as the Member of legislative Assembly for the second time in a row.
With a political career of nearly a decade, Aleem was into the business of putting up and renting stalls in trade fairs along with his brother.
Although in the initial years of the business he earned millions, however, later he began suffering heavy losses due to growing competition in the market. The competition led to staunch rivalry which further accentuated into a gang war.
Sources say a team of Gujarat Police, few years ago, arrested his brother Yunus for his alleged links with the underworld. Haji Aleem and his brother Haji Yunis, both 'history-sheeters', owned a circus.
On June 5, 2003, Delhi-based NGO Pravasi Nepali Mitra Manch, lodged an FIR with the Muzaffarnagar Police alleging that boys and girls from Nepal were forcibly being kept at the circus. A case of wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation and causing hurt was lodged. After the complaint, police raided the circus and rescued 32 people. The State Government transferred the investigation to CB-CID, which filed a closure report and gave the brothers a clean chit on December 30, 2004. He had four sons with his first wife. Eight years ago, one of his sons was killed in an encounter (with regard to a dacoity case) with the Meerut Police.
