Ajay Maken demands CM's resignation

The Delhi Congress Party president Ajay Maken on Thursday demanded resignation of Delhi Chief Minister following the report of the Shunglu Committee that revealed serious cases of corruption, nepotism, favouritism against the Delhi Government.

Maken also alleged that Arvind Kejriwal had given his consent to levy house tax and was now promising people to waive it off in unauthorised colonies if the AAP emerges victorious in the April 23 civic polls.

Maken further said, “The Shunglu Committee has exposed the large number of posts created in the Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) to accommodate AAP volunteers without issuing invitation to the general public. The Committee report has also exposed the foreign tours on public money made by various Ministers and AAP functionary and DDC chairperson as crores of rupees was spent from the coffers of the Delhi Government to fund these tours, without getting the prior sanction of the l-G.”

“The Congress workers will observe a ‘Black Day’ on Friday, and will hold demonstrations in all the 272 MCD wards in Delhi. The Central Government at the Centre should direct the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR,” he added.

The report which runs into over 100 pages deals with decisions, including appointment of certain individuals as advisors to the government, taken by Kejriwal and his Cabinet where it had no authority do so and without the lG's concurrence.

Among other issues, the report raised questions on the government posting officers to the Anti-Corruption Branch, its decisions on transfer and appointments of officers, foreign travel undertaken by ministers without the lG's sanction and appointment of lawyers.
