The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) gave a fee waiver on charges summing up to below `500 to its patients, a step taken to cope with the liquidity shortages of lower denomination available with the institute and to avoid inconveniences to the patients.
The decision would be applicable on Thursday, Deputy Director, AIIMS, V Srinivas said in a statement on Wednesday. This would exempt OPD card charges for walk-in patients and outpatient clinical charges less than `500 per patient.
"It is hereby ordered that the OPD card charges of `10 per patient shall not be charged from walk in new patients for November 10 -11 …All charges for clinical services for out-patients where the cumulative billing per transaction per patient is less than `500 shall not be charged for the next two days," Srinivas said in a statement.
The order has come after the announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday night over the demonetisation of `500 and `1,000.
