Feeling the pulse of thousands of sufferers of the BRT corridor, Narendra Modi on Sunday criticised the Delhi Government for the ill-conceived project and said the model of BRT in Delhi was an imitation of the BRT corridor in Ahmedabad. He said the BRT corridor could not succeed in Delhi because of the corrupt practices of its officials.

“The BRT corridor in Delhi is a total failure while BRT corridor in Gujarat is successful. Because, here there is corruption,” the Gujarat Chief Minister said adding that not only BRT in Ahmedabad received an award from the United Nations for its successful implementation, the BRT in other Gujarat cities, like Surat, also won accolades.

Making an all-out attack on the Congress, Modi accused the Delhi Government of total failure in addressing any of the major problems despite being at the helm of affairs for a decade-and-a-half and asked people not to leave the opportunity to defeat the ruling party. Slamming the Sheila Dikshit-led Government on a range of issues, including water scarcity, inflated power and water tariff and deteriorating law and order situation, Modi said the BJP will ensure good governance and address major challenges facing the city.

He said people of Delhi should remember Nirbhaya while going to vote for the Assembly polls. Addressing the gathering of over 10,000, Modi asked people not to forget the ‘rape Capital’ tag associated with the national Capital when they vote. “It (Delhi) has earned a bad name as the rape Capital. When you vote, do not forget this. Remember Nirbhaya for a while,” Modi said while referring to incidents of rape against minor children in the national Capital.

In his last election speech in the Capital, he also attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), saying it was being led by those, who developed political ambitions during social activist Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption. Indirectly referring to Kejriwal, Modi said he not only betrayed his mentor Anna Hazare but also ruined the anti-corruption movement for his political gains.
