After webpage takedown, Congman to take on party?

Days after he quit Congress and created a controversy by taking down the website of the party State unit, Sanjey Puri has joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with scores of Janakpuri Block Congress workers.

Puri, who was the Computer and Research Department head of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), was reportedly unhappy over being denied a ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections from the Janakpuri constituency. Puri was considered close to former Congress MP and Congress candidate Mahabal Mishra, who is contesting from Dwarka Assembly seat.

He formally joined AAP, along with Delhi Mahila Congress secretary Neena Kapoor on Thursday. One councillor each from BJP and BSP joined the party as well. Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh welcomed the new leaders by presenting them with the trademark party cap.”There’s a groundswell of opinion in favour of AAP. There’s a yawning gap of support between AAP and BJP. People are choosing us over the others,” Singh said.

Puri, who earlier had decided to contest the upcoming polls as an Independent, attributed his move of joining AAP to the Congress’ “incompetence”. The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee website at http:// www.dpcc.co.in/ as well as the online edition of Congress Sandesh (www.congressandesh.com) are offline at the moment following Puri’s exit from the party. Visitors to the websites are greeted with the line: “Sorry for the inconvenience.”
