South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SCMC) has taken a strong note after receiving large number of complaints of contractors about non -compliance of the terms and conditions mentioned in the approved tenders related to parking sites.
Following the frequent complaints, the contractors have been issued a fresh guidelines including to clearly mark out the parking sites by putting 6 inches wide strips with thermoplastic paint, install display boards mentioning site map, avoid issuing parking slip manually and to charge parking rates approved by civic body in three days or face the music, Standing Committee Chairperson Shikha Rai said.
Rai further said that the contractors have been told to instruct the attendants to remain present in the proper uniform and avoid issuing parking slips by hand as the instruction of issuing slips through hand held machine is mandatory. She further stated that non-compliance of the instructions suitable penalty will be imposed on the erring contractors.
The Chairperson also informed that the action was taken after senior officials of the civic body deputed to check irregularity found the complaints true.
A senior SDMC official informed that the contract which awarded for parking sites under its four zones. It was observed and confirmed by the expert team that many contractors has not marked 6 inches wide strips with thermoplastic paint for the purpose of identification, site map and rate list display was missing at a few sites, the parking slips at all the sites are not being issued through hand held devices and the attendants were not found in the designated dress and they were not displaying their identity cards, he said.
