Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) said, “We have arrested Irshad (19), Vishal (22) and apprehended a juvenile. They confessed to having stabbed the deceased after he refused to share his cigarette.”
The official said that they are yet to arrest the fourth accused. He is the one who stabbed Mohit.
On the intervening night of March 21 and 22, police had received a PCR call about a murder near Bittu Tikki Walah at Netaji Subhash Place .
On reaching the spot, the local staff found that Mohit, who was stabbed by unidentified men, had been rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Mohit, a native of Sonipat in Haryana was living in Pitampura with his friends. At the time of murder, he was out with his friends when he was stabbed by four youths.
Khan said, “During investigation, we questioned the friends of Mohit who were present at the crime scene and found that the argument between Mohit and the accused was not sharing the cigarette Mohit was smoking.
Since it was a blind murder, we had no evidence. We scanned more than 100 CCTV cameras and eventually managed to identify the place where the bike of the accused was last seen. With the help of local intelligence, we managed to nab the three on Saturday from Shakur pur area.”
