The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged that after 15 years of corruption in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the BJP is now increasing property taxes to increase the kitty from which they can loot further. The AAP termed the property tax hike as unjustified, tyrannical and burden on the public.
Addressing a Press conference, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said that when all the three MCDs were unified, people of Delhi were conned by the BJP by making them believe that funds will be brought from the Union Government.
"On July 4, top brass of the MCD held a meeting to finalize the revised structure of property tax. This is a blueprint to make a bigger hole in the pockets of the common man and it has been handed over to the Lieutenant Governor," said Bhardwaj.
"In a few days, the people of Delhi will face the heat of revised property tax. The LG has given another gift to the common man by levying one per cent education cess on the property tax in East and North Delhi Municipal Corporation. We staunchly oppose this move," said Bhardwaj.
