Admissions of Haryana Board students stopped

Delhi University (DU) has stopped the admission process for the candidates from the Haryana Board over contradictory marks displayed on the board’s official website and the mark-sheets of the applicants.

The Haryana Board of Secondary Education (HBSE) is the fourth largest in sending the students to DU. Senior officials of the DU told The Pioneer that the board has failed to revert even after being intimated by the varsity. This academic session, 9,093 students from the Haryana board had registered with the DU.

“We had to suspend admissions of these candidates who passed the examinations of the Haryana Board as the marks segregation on the board’s website and the mark-sheets do not tally. While on the website, the score has been segregated by giving 60 marks to theory, 20 for continuous evaluation and 20 for practicals, the marks sheets shows a division of 70:20 with 70 for theory and 20 for the practicals. This has been rejected by the varsity as a proof of the candidates who had come for the verifications of documents to take admission across DU colleges,” senior official from the admission committee told The Pioneer.

The varsity has intimated the Board of Education Haryana few days back as there has been “no communication” from the latter.

“As there was no communication from their end the university has sent them a formal intimation few days back but they have not reverted yet,” added the official.

The colleges had already given admission to some students who had come for admission with their documents, said the officials. “But it is after the colleges discovered the problem that they reported to the admission committee. We discovered the issue and have asked the colleges to deny the admission.”
