The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) sent a notice to Delhi’s Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Thursday asking him why there was a “delay” in action over the alleged `400-crore water tanker scam.
“We have sent notice to Kapil Mishra asking him to join the probe and enquiring why there was delay in action being taken in the matter,” ACB chief MK Meena said.
In response, Mishra tweeted, “When you start digging the roots of such corrupt people who looted (the public) for 15 years, then you realise how long those roots are.”
Earlier this week, a case was registered by the ACB in connection with the alleged water tanker scam linking former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
Mishra had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and lieutenant-Governor Nejeeb Jung recommending either CBI or ACB probe against Dikshit in connection with the alleged scam.
Meena, who is Special Commissioner of Police, had issued direction to register an FIR after the ACB got two complaints with regard to the ‘scam’ and those named in the complaints include Dikshit and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal; one from lieutenant Governor’s Office and another from leader of Opposition Vijendra Gupta. Meena said both Dikshit and Kejriwal will be quizzed.
Mentioning that the FIR is false and nothing will get out of it, Kejriwal had questioned, “Why Modiji is conducting false CBI raidsIJ PM has threatened all others through false FIRs and raids. He wants to break me down, but whatever he will do, I will be standing like a rock. Whenever there is a dalit or a farmer will face atrocities, I will be standing with them.”
last week, the Delhi Government had sent a report of a fact-finding committee on the ‘scam’ to the l-G.
