The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi has arrested some senior officials of Delhi Jal Board (DJB), including a chief engineer and an executive engineer, for embezzlement of Government money.
The arrested officials had shown on paper a series of repair work that was never actually carried out.
Chief engineer Vijay Prakash Gunjiyal, executive engineer Satya Pal Singh, assistant engineers lokesh Kumar Sharma and Anil Gupta and junior engineer Javed Ali Khan have been charged with showing repair work, change of pipelines and fitting at sewage pump stations of Mandawali and Geeta Colony.

was actually done at the site and thereafter payment was released to
the contractors.
During course of investigation, it was found out that the officials of Delhi Jal Board had awarded tenders of repair and replacement of pipeline work, showing urgent necessity of work. Thereafter work order for around Rs10 lakh each was awarded in favour of the contractors of the choice of the officials.
Investigations revealed that there was no urgency of the work. It was also found out that the concerned DJB officers had given the report that the work was satisfactorily done at the site, and payment was released in favour of the contractors, whereas no work was actually done.
