The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is making all-out efforts to make its "Chalo Kerala" call to trend on social media. Not only the national unit of ABVP but units of almost all states are using their official Twitter handles and Facebook pages to mobilise students against the 'violence' unleashed on the right wing cadre in Kerala allegedly by the members of left parties.
ABVP plans to mobilise more than 50,000 students from all across the nation to take out a "Maha Rally" in Kerala's capital Thiruvananthapuram on November 11. The ABVP is alleging that the violence against the right wing cadre in Kerala is 'politically motivated' and 'State sponsored'.
Be it social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter or instant messaging app like Whatsapp , the student community is quite fairly supporting ABVP's efforts against the alleged violence unleashed on the members of BJP-RSS-ABVP cadre allegedly by the left parties including Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) in Kerala.
While #ChaloKerala is trending on twitter with tweets and re-tweets being made not only from the official handle of various state and national unit of ABVP, but also apolitical students making retweets, replying and liking it in sizeable numbers.
Also disturbing pictures of the victims of violence and brutal murder have been used by the ABVP in its posters that narrates the nature of the killings. Some videos shared by members of ABVP shows those victims who are being subjected to 'amputation' of body organs.
"These are not simply the murders; the intention is to create panic. The Kannur district which is the home district of Kerala's CM Pinarayi Vijayan is the epicentre of violence. Not only in other States but even in Kerala mobilisation for Chalo Kerala is going on at large level," said Saket Bahuguna, national media convener ABVP.
However, Prashant Mukherjee , the state secretary Delhi of Students' Federation of India (SFI) which is student wing of CPI (M), claimed that the Kerala has progressed on every front under the Government of left parties while the BJP's model of development has failed all across the nation. "Chalo Kerala is just an eye-wash as more number of CPI (M) members are killed compared to that of BJP-RSS," said Prashant.
