Members of  the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested against Delhi University (DU) administration at North Campus demanding that the entrance test for the Postgraduate (PG) courses in Delhi University should be conducted in both online and offline mode.

For admissions to its postgraduate (PG) courses for the academic session 2018-19, the DU is allegedly planning to introduce only online entrance.

The ABVP alleged that conducting PG entrance only in online mode puts students from rural background at disadvantage as majority of rural students are still not convenient with the online mode.

last year, amid vehement protest by the ABVP the DU has to step-back on its decision of conducting online entrance test for PG, following which the PG test was conducted in offline mode.

“It also seems that there is some sort of corruption in giving tender to the company for conducting online test as only one company has allegedly applied against the tender and there was no competitor. last year also there were reports of alleged corruption in the tendering process,” said Bharat Khatana, Delhi State Secretary, ABVP.

ABVP also protested against the “detainment” of about 500 students of the law faculty of Delhi University due to alleged shortage in their attendance. According to ABVP,  a “detain list” carrying name of about 500 law students from Campus law Centre (ClC), law Centre-I and law Centre -II was displayed at law faculty.

“The Dean of law facility Ved Kumari is acting like a dictator and is running the law faculty as per her whims and fancies. She says that 70 percent is the attendance criterion then why students with even 50 percent have not been detained,” said Khatana.
