Hitting back at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for his comments that the party would not let BJP form the Government in Delhi at any cost, the saffron outfit, on Tuesday, claimed these remarks reflect his
“desperation” and accused him of not believing in the Constitution. The BJP also criticised AAP for attacking Delhi lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and said it is “unfortunate and irresponsible” that aspersions are being cast on someone holding a Constitutional post.
“Kejriwal’s statement shows only his desperation. BJP is not going to form the Government in the national Capital via the backdoor. Instead AAP is adopting such tactics and meeting with Independent MlAs as they are greedy for power and don’t believe in the Indian Constitution,” said Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay.
Earlier, Kejriwal said AAP was in contact with Congress, JD(U) and some “honest” BJP legislators to prevent the saffron party from coming to power in Delhi through “illegal means”. The escalation of the war of words between the two parties comes a day after AAP released a video of a purported sting operation showing Delhi BJP vice president Sher Singh Dagar offering Rs 4 crore to an AAP MlA to switch sides.
Upadhyay said, “Before lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal had claimed they wouldn’t let Narendra Modi become Prime Minister. let’s ask him if he could stop Modi from becoming PM. Such statements are meaningless and are just misleading the people of Delhi. From Day One, BJP’s stand has been very clear. If Jung invites us to form the Government, we will analyse all options and go only as per Constitution.”
He further said, “After elections... When they (AAP) formed the Government, why did they run away from their responsibilityIJ They (AAP) are just doing this because they want to stay in the news.”
