AAP wants commission to probe espionage

Raising the recent alleged case of corporate espionage, the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday demanded the setting up of a commission to investigate the alleged case of corporate espionage in a time-bound manner. The party also demanded action against the top officials of the companies involved, following the arrest of low-ranking officials of the Petroleum Ministry.

Party spokesperson Ashutosh said, “After the arrest of the low-ranking officials in this case, the Government may be patting its back, but to actually pursue this case, they first need to look into deeper detail. They should arrest senior officials of these companies because those who have been arraigned were directed by the high-ranking officials of these companies.”

Ashutosh also referred to the companies whose names have cropped up in the case as “habitual offenders”. According to him, there was nothing new in the case and this has been in practice in the country since 1998. “In the year 1998, Balasubramaniam of Reliance was found guilty of corporate espionage. Reliance is a habitual offender,” said Ashutosh, who added that his fear is that the case would get buried if these companies are not investigated.

“The Government has to assure the people that it is serious in getting into the depth of the matter. It should form a commission to probe the incident. Not only that the investigation should happen in a time-bound manner, so that the case reaches its logical end,” he explained. Meanwhile, referring to the upcoming protest by Anna Hazare, AAP said its leaders were willing to join Anna Hazare’s protest against the amendments made in the land Acquisition Act if the veteran social activist wants them to do so.

“Anna has always maintained that he does not share any platform with any political party. Till now he has said that Aam Aadmi Party volunteers supporting his cause are welcome to join him. But he has to specifically say if we can join him. If he permits us then we will certainly join. By heart, we are with Anna,” said party leader Dilip Pandey. The Gandhian activist will hold a two-day dharna at Jantar Mantar on February 23 and 24 against the amendments made in the land Acquisition Act.
