AAP using Mohalla Clinics to favour party workers: Maken

The Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken on Wednesday accused the AAP Government of using Mohalla Clinics to favour party workers at the expenses of public exchequer.

In a letter written to Central Vigilance Commission (South), Maken has demanded an enquiry and role of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Health Minister Satyender Jain and others while setting up Mohalla Clinics by indulging into corrupt/ illegal means in order to benefit ruling party members/office bearers at the cost of taxpayers’ money.

“We have found that Mohalla Clinics that have been taken up on rent do not abide by the guidelines and rules of the Central Vigilance Commission. No advertisements or tenders were posted by the AAP,” said Maken, adding, that  the AAP blatantly violated the CVC guidelines dated July 8, 1999 while setting up Mohalla Clinics at the locations owned by members and office bearers of the AAP. It is noted that the AAP Government has given extension for a year to 101 mohalla clinics across the city.

“The Delhi Government extended pecuniary advantage to members and office bearers of the AAP by paying them hefty amount more than the prevailing market rent,” alleged Maken.

The Congress leader alleged this was done to extend “monetary benefits” to people associated to the AAP. “These clinics have been opened on the properties of AAP members on high rents.
