AAP turns Rajghat into protest site

Published on:

Rajghat, known for Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial site, turned into a political ground when scores of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters indulged in political activities on Monday.

The party workers, who had come to the site to show solidarity with party convener Arvind Kejriwal after being slapped by an auto driver during a roadshow in North West Delhi, lost their patience and shouted slogans against Opposition parties. Even, many of them entered into main samadhi of the Father of Nation without removing their shoes.

As news spread that Kejriwal has sat on dharna at Rajghat to mark the protest, scores of party workers and his supporters assembled there. Initially they maintained silence but within a few minutes they started calling others through phones and messages. Though the senior leaders were sitting peacefully, the supporters wearing AAP caps started chanting political slogans like Delhi ko jita hai Banaras bhi jitenge and Pehle Sheila hari hai ab Modi ki bari hai.

Many of them were seen clicking photographs with their mobile phones and asking mediapersons to highlight the protest.
