AAP to provide legal aid to farmers: Raghav Chadha

Published on:

Supporting the ongoing farmers’ protest, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha on Saturday said the AAP will provide legal help to the farmers who have filed defamation notices to senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and Ram

Madhav for a pre-meditated smear campaign to discredit the protest.

These framers are — Ramneek Randhawa, Kuldeep Dhaliwal, and Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu, showing unconditional support to them, Chadha said that AAP had kept its promise by providing legal aid to farmers.

“AAP has already offered food, water, medical supplies, and free-wifi to the protesting farmers on Delhi’s Singh borders, claiming that AAP is the only party with farmers,” the AAP leader said.

Terming Giriraj Singh, Member of Parliament from Begusarai as a firebrand leader of the BJP, Chadha said on December 12, Singh stated that farmers were being misled and the farmers protest was not being held in favour of the farmers.

Mentioning remarks on farmers termed them as Khalistani, farmers a farmer from Amritsar, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, has sent a legal notice to the Union Minister, seeking an unconditional apology and unambiguous withdrawal of the defamatory and derogatory statements.

Dhaliwal belongs to a family of farmers and cultivates 6 acres of land in Jagdev Kalan village in Ajnala Tehsil, Amritsar, and has been a part of the farmer movement since November 27.

It may recalled on December17, 2020, Nitin Patel, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat had said, “In the name of farmers, anti-national elements, terrorists, Khalistanis, Communists and pro-China people have sneaked into the agitation… We can see them having pizza, pakodi… All that is coming free of cost… Anti-national elements are giving them lakhs of rupees to stay put…” taking objection to such vilification, Ramneek Singh Randhawa from Jalandhar has issued a notice to Nitin Patel, seeking ‘an unconditional apology and unambiguous withdrawal of the defamatory and derogatory statements’.

Randhawa too, has been fighting for his rights at Singhu border.

Seeking an unconditional apology and unambiguous withdrawal of the defamatory and derogatory statements and referring to an article where Madhavhad questioned the authenticity of the farmers’ movement stating, ‘Is Khalistan the reason for farmers’ march to Delhi?’ Sidhu has issued a notice to Ram Madhav.

Briefing the media, Punjab Unit Co-incharge, Chadha while reiterating his and his Party’s stance on supporting the farmers’ movement said, “This is the farmer who has given his blood, his sweat, his entire life to tilling his land. It is because of the sacrifices made by a farmer and his family that food reaches our homes, our plates, and we’re able to eat to our heart’s content.

“If someone has a problem with this farmer, if someone is abusing an honest farmer, it’s almost like they’re abusing Mother India. Farmers are, in the truest form, sons of the soil, and the Aam Aadmi Party and its National Convenor, Arvind KejriwalJi will stand by these farmers. All of us will fulfil our responsibility of a sewaadaar.”
