AAP to instal 500 Tirangas across city

Delhi will soon have 500 national flags across the city. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday dedicated a 115 feet high national flag to the people in East Kidwai Nagar on the occasion of 75th India’s Independence Day.

In the spirit of Deshbhakti, Kejriwal Government has already installed sky-high national flag at five different locations across Delhi and have set a target of 500 flags.  “By upcoming Republic Day, 500 Tringas will be ready,” Kejriwal said.

Along with East Kidwai Nagar, high mast Tirangas have been installed in Kalkaji, Patparganj, Rani Bagh and Dwarka.

During the inauguration, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyendar Jain and the Chief Secretary were present at the site.

While inaugurating the high-mast flag in East Kidwai Nagar, Kejriwal reminiscing about the days of Anna Andolan said, "Hoisting the Tiranga today, reminded me of the Anna Andolan days. I remember during Anna Andolan, Tiranga was always present on the stage. Whenever Annaji gave the slogan of 'Bharat Mata Ki', everyone, even sitting in their homes, replied with a 'Jai'.”

“The Anna Movement instilled a sense of pride towards the Tiranga in our hearts. Such was the atmosphere of patriotism in the whole country at that time. Now, every child carries a Tiranga with love and patriotism towards the nation,” he added.

As India celebrates the spirit of patriotism and remembering the contribution of freedom fighters, Kejriwal said when we see the Tiranga, we get goosebumps and our hearts are filled with love and pride towards the nation. 500 similar Tirangas will be installed all around Delhi, so that when you leave for office, one or two Tirangas can be seen by the time you reach the office. If you see Tiranga even once, then patriotism and love towards the country would be reignited. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we often forget about our country. Now, these Tirangas would act as a constant reminder of love and patriotism towards the nation."

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had announced the installation of high-mast flags at 500 places as part of the 'Deshbhakti budget.' 45 crores were allocated towards this in the budget. The Public Works Department (PWD) is installing Tringas across the city.
