Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and eight AAP MlAs, along with councillor Rakesh Kumar, met President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday evening and discussed the issue of thrashing of AAP councillor Rakesh Kumar by BJP members at the joint session of MCDs at Ramlila Ground on Thursday and alleged that lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung is “misusing” his position and supporting the ration mafia in Delhi.

“Since you are the custodian of the Constitution of India and since Najeeb Jung represents …Rastrapatiji in the constitutional position of lt Govenor, we request you to get the matter thoroughly probed in a manner which you feel is appropriate and conclude for yourself whether such a person is worthy of representing you in any manner,” Kejriwal said in the memorandum related to the l-J which highlighted the issue of Janta Provision Store, a ration shop in Sant Nagar area whose licence has been restored by the l-G.  According to Kejriwal, the authorities concerned found the charge against Janta Provisions Store to be true and have cancelled the licence.

“The legislative Assembly of NCT Delhi in its sitting held on June 9, expressed deep anguish and anger over the manner in which Najeeb Jung has conducted himself which the Assembly perceived to be totally illegal and unconstitutional. The House also has constituted a committee to probe all the charges that have come up in the matter of cancellation and restoration of the licence of Janta Provision Store,” the memorandum said.

The second memorandum was related to the thrashing incident of AAP councillor Rakesh Kumar.

“As the custodian of the Constitution to issue necessary directions to all concerned to take corrective steps so that the faith of Dalits, women, minorities and weaker sections of society is restored in the State machinery which is expected to function within the parameters prescribed under the Constitution of India,” he said.
