'AAP sweeps APMC polls'

Published on:

The AAP on Tuesday claimed to sweep the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) polls with its candidates winning 14 out of the total 18 seats across seven wholesale mandis in the Capital and termed it a mandate against demonetisation. However, APMC chairman Rajendra Sharma said APMC elections are not party based. “All the winners are traders. Not even a single leader from any party was seen campaigning for any candidates during APMC election and no candidate contested with symbol of any political party,” he added.

As per reports AAP has gained 14 seats out 16, while the Congress manages to win only two seats. The BJP has reportedly drawn blank.

Delhi labour Minister Gopal Rai termed it as a mandate against demonetisation.
