The AAP student wing, Chhatra Yuva Sangarsh Smiti (CYSS), is fighting tooth and nail to make a strong ground in the upcoming Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) election. In the beginning of new academic session, the CYSS has added an impressive 5,000 members. With a slogan ‘Student front for Swaraj’ and following the ideology of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, student leaders on Thursday encouraged the young minds to join the CYSS.
Anmol Pawar, a student leader and media coordinator of CYSS, said from past three years, only 36 per cent students of the Delhi University voted in the DUSU election. “DUSU is to facilitate the students, but unfortunately 64 per cent students are not willing to participate in the election. It is the right time for CYSS to encourage students to be part of this democratic practice. CYSS is an option for the students. Our motive is to encourage the 64 per cent who do not vote,” Pawar added.
The members of CYSS have approached the students. One see the volunteers of CYSS in college canteens, outside the Vishwavidalya Metro station and in the Arts Faculty. CYSS members believe that students at the Delhi University are looking for an alternative.
