Coming up with new ways to spread its wings in the national Capital and generate enough funds for the party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has now created a new concept of ‘shagun’ to accept money from people, who wish to give “blessings” to the party.
The AAP Trade Wing members on Friday launched this programme and said that through a mobile app called ‘Aap Ka Daan’, people can donate money in the form of ‘shagun’ for example Rs1100, Rs2100, etc. The party’s aim is to collect at least Rs1 crore from this programme.
Senior party leader Manish Sisodia said, “The AAP Trade Wing has seen a trend in the donations we have been receiving. In India it is considered auspicious and a good omen to give one rupee with money to someone. Similarly, we have seen that people have been donating Rs101, Rs501, Rs1,100 and so on to us. Thus we decided to turn this into a concept called ‘Aap Ka Shagun’.”
‘Aap Ka Shagun’ is a concept where on the mobile application ‘Aap Ka Daan’, anyone can donate to the party. Besides, party members will also go to shopkeepers and people and ask for shagun.
“This will help us connect with people also better and also help us get support. The aim is to speak to people and know their problems and simultaneously they bless us with their auspices,” said Sisodia.
