AAP seeks l-G's intervention

A group of AAP leaders — including Ashutosh, Kumar Vishwas, Dilip Pandey, Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak — on Wednesday met lt Governor Najeeb Jung and sought his intervention in the issue of the alleged attempt to ‘mow down’ the party’s Delhi unit chief, Dilip Pandey, by a vehicle belonging to the city police, which it claimed is working as a “weapon” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We met the l-G today (Wednesday) and briefed him about the Tuesday’s incident. A CD in that connection carrying the footage showing a police van trying to crush Dilip and party workers, was submitted to him, along with a letter,” AAP leader Sanjay Singh told reporters after the meeting.

“We raised our concern that on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive, Delhi Police is harassing and arresting AAP leaders and workers, sending them to jail and attacking them,” he alleged.

“These are matters of concern, we have been assured by the lG that he will raise this with the city police Commissioner and he will do, whatever, he can in accordance with the law,” Singh said.

Meanwhile, senior police officials told The Pioneer that cross complaints have been taken from both the parties and they were looking into the matter for further investigations. According to the complaint lodged by the constable, he said AAP supporters had ‘unnecessarily’ beaten him up and the accused should be arrested. “The van was parked at the roadside. I just put the keys to start the bus, but it suddenly moved a few meters as the bus was already in gear.

“On this, a group of AAP members got into the bus and started beating me. With the intervention of other policemen on the spot I was rescued,” said the constable in his complaint.

Pandey on Tuesday had alleged that a Delhi police bus tried to run him over outside the Rajinder Nagar police station where protesting AAP volunteers were detained.
